Harbaugh had been frequently linked as a possible splash hire for the Colts, given his history in Indianapolis, his place in the Ring of Honor and his ties to owner Jim Irsay. A virtual interview with Indianapolis never happened. The Colts formally announced interviews with seven candidates last week — special teams coordinator Bubba Ventrone, Broncos defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen — and Harbaugh was not among those candidates.
Harbaugh’s decision to remain at Michigan comes on Monday, the same day three more potential Colts interviews were reported.
