“This league is the strongest in the world, it’s the best league in the world,” Wave defender Abby Dahlkemper said. “You have to come out and perform every game, or else you’re going to get beat.”“It definitely is the strongest league in the world,” said Wave midfielder Emily van Egmond, an alum of European and Australian clubs. “Give credit to Louisville. They came out and put on a good performance.”In comparison to other Wave opponents, Louisville was more skilled and faster.
The Wave generated few threats. Morgan raised a challenge seconds into entering the game. NWSL veteran Makenzy Doniak put a 7-yard shot on goal off van Egland’s long pass in the waning minutes.
