Near the very end of Sunday’s episode of HBO’s hit show “Succession,” Roman Roy shows his siblings a stock price chart on his smartphone.

Its remains are today consolidated as Paramount Global, which still encompasses CBS, the Paramount studio and Simon & Schuster, among other holdings chiefly in entertainment.
