Witnesses told Scott O'Connor, prosecuting, they were taken in by callers who said they qualified for a free boiler and offered them a 10-year service plan.Gibson's lawyer claimed Lee was the "brains" behind the operation which he conceded had left "decent, ordinary people" out of pocket. The prosecutor added: "They had no intention of completing the work and that was their common criminal purpose."
