People have been advised to stay away from Allington Avenue in Lenton and a hotel has opened its doors for displaced residents
A controlled explosion was carried out after two suspicious packages were found in Nottingham, police confirmed. Emergency services were called to Allington Avenue, Lenton at 2pm on Friday .
In an update issued at 10.30pm on Friday, Nottinghamshire Police said two suspicious packages had been found in Lenton - one in Allington Avenue and the second in nearby Maxwell Court. The package found in Maxwell Court was "safely dealt with by Explosive Ordinance Disposal engineers", police added.The force said a second controlled explosion is planned for the other package, but a cordon will remain in place "until it can be made safe".
