A cold front was moving across North Texas late Saturday afternoon. Ahead of the front it was still in the 90s, but behind it, temperatures dropped quickly into the 70s and even the 60s in some spots. There is a threat for severe thunderstorms during the remainder of the evening, but not for DFW. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect through 11 pm for areas south and east of Dallas. Hail of up to the size of quarters, or even ping pong balls is possible with the stronger storms.
The cold front will bring in much cooler weather for Sunday as temperatures will be below normal for the first time in a few weeks. Morning lows will be in the 50s, afternoon highs in the 70s. Additional rain chances are in the forecast next week with more thunderstorms expected. Some of the models are suggesting two to four inches of rain is possible from late Monday through Tuesday and into Wednesday morning. Temperatures will likely remain below normal through Wednesday, before it warms up again by the end of the week.: Scattered severe thunderstorms moving east and out of North Texas by midnight. Turning breezy and much cooler. Low: 58. Wind: N 10-20 mph.
