COP26 Negotiators Clinch Compromise Deal To Fight Climate Change:

In the final plenary session Saturday evening, India proposed to further water down the language on coal and fossil fuel subsidies from “phasing out” to “phasing down.” The proposal was opposed by Switzerland, the European Union, Mexico, the Marshall Islands, Fiji, and other countries, but it was ultimately adopted.
Earlier Saturday, countries gathering for the stock taking plenary expressed disappointment with the text but highlighted the need to move on after deep disagreements over issues of finance and fossil fuels.
