The ITV soap and the seaside town are best buds 🤩
Blackpool has had a long-standing relationship with Coronation Street for decades, as not only has the much-loved soap filmed special episodes in the seaside resort since 1961, it was also once home to an attraction all about Corrie.
Some Corrie cast members have waxwork figures in Madame Tussauds Blackpool, adding to the soap's deep connection with the town. As for Corrie itself, many special episodes have been filmed in the iconic seaside resort. The first visit the soap made to the area was in 1961 for the annual Whit Monday picnic where, after an enjoyable day together, Harry Hewitt proposed to Concepta Riley on the coach journey home.
