Students at Capri Institute of Hair Design allegedly lost thousands of dollars in tuition, state attorney general's office says.

Rob Jennings | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com

This made it “virtually impossible” for the students to transfer to a different cosmetology school, the attorney general’s office said.Students allegedly were told via the Capri Institute’s website that the four locations — in Paramus, Clifton, Kenilworth and Brick — would reopen within 30 days. However, it took 45 days before the school began “haphazardly” opening some locations, the attorney general’s office said.

Platkin said his office has filed a Superior Court lawsuit in Union County against Capri Institute, in addition to asking the State Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling to immediately suspend its license to operate in New Jersey.
