Around 30 per cent of the long established Redvales playing fields in Bury could be lost to development
A council’s plans to sell off playing fields in order to build a special school have sparked a public outcry.
The plans have received 55 objections with those complaining bemoaning the loss of public open green space. A report to the cabinet on setting out the objections to the sale said the land was being sold to create ‘new specialist educational provision’. “It is totally unsuitable and unfair on local residents. Build your school on brownfield site, it really is not wanted round Redvales.”
