The Food and Drug Administration on Monday approved updated COVID-19 vaccinations aimed at more closely matching currently circulating strains of the virus.
“The public can be assured that these updated vaccines have met the agency’s rigorous scientific standards for safety, effectiveness, and manufacturing quality," said Peter Marks, director of the FDA’s Center for
Biologics Evaluation and Research.Earlier this summer, the FDA's Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee met to recommend that vaccine manufacturers produce a product targeted at the omicron XBB 1.5 variant.
