The Scottish Government have released its yearly crime and offence records showing the highest and lowest rates of crime in Scotland which have angered Scots across the nation.
The areas in Scotland with the highest and lowest crime rates have been revealed by the Scottish Government . Between 2023 and 2024, the national rate of total recorded crime was 550 crimes per 10,000 population — marking an increase from 531 in 2022-23.
Each of these cities have all had a big increase in crime between 2023 and 2024. Rounding out the top five areas of Scotland with the highest crime rates are West Dunbartonshire and Aberdeen City, with 672 and 663 respectively. Reader johnmike expressed: "Crime is the only thing flourishing in Scotland. Perhaps money spent on these surveys would be better spent on catching offenders."
