The Cubs were able to extend their lead over the Reds and Marlins to a full game thanks to their win on Sunday against the Royals. They also trail the Giants by one-half game in the battle for the second wild card spot, which would put them in a series against the top-wild card club instead of the third-best division winner in the National League.
-The Brewers will have an off-day Monday before a two-game series against the Twins. They’ll then have Thursday off as well before a three-game series against the Padres. -The Giants will take on the Phillies in a three-game series that will feature the top-two wild card clubs. They will also play a three-game series at home against the Braves to finish off the week.
