I’ve been making music, which is really helpful. For the first time ever, I’ve started hearing tunes in my head as I’m sleeping, so I’ve been waking up and going into my voice notes and recording them. I have a little dog named Caleb, so it’s really lovely to just play with him. I’ve been eating the right things and making sure that most things don’t start super early. I think people have forgotten boundaries because everyone is so accessible.I’m feeling really accomplished.
I think she was with Clive Davis, and I remember she was wearing red. I went to reintroduce myself, and she was like, “You’re the girl in. You can really sing.” And then when I sang at the event, I didn’t realize it, but the camera caught her, and she was singing along in the audience. To be able to portray her is like a dream come true.Of course, Aretha was so much more than a musical figure, with her influence on culture globally and her dedication to the civil rights movement.
