Cecil Smith was sentenced to nearly 11 years in prison for the 2021 killing of Harold Castle in a parking lot in Southeast Washington.

A District man was sentenced Monday to nearly 11 years in prison for the fatal shooting of another man in a Southeast Washington parking lot last year.sentenced Cecil Smith, 29, to 10 years and nine months for the Aug. 23, 2021, killing of Harold Castle.Smith pleaded guilty in April to voluntary manslaughter while armed. According to prosecutors, around 11 p.m.
At some point, prosecutors said, Smith turned away from Castle, reached into his right pocket, pulled out a gun and fired it at Castle. Prosecutors say Castle ran a few feet and collapsed from a gunshot wound to his chest. Smith was arrested less than week later and has been in D.C. jail ever since.
