Video from a N.J. fitness center surveillance system showed the child running on a treadmill and his father speeding up the machine even as the boy kept falling, according to prosecutors.

Last week, on March 3, the prosecutor’s office said they received a report from an expert state witness that found the boy died as a result of blunt force impact to his chest and abdomen, and his death was a homicide, the office said. Corey’s mother, Breanna Micciolo, who is estranged from Gregor and shared joint custody of the child, reported concerns about injuries the child received to a caseworker with the state Division of Child Protection and Permanency. The caseworker told her to take Corey to his pediatrician for an abuse exam.
As of July, investigators were still trying to determine if the alleged abuse was connected to Corey’s death.
