Cory Heft was a pillar of the Pennsylvania festival community. He traveled across the state setting up booths that served as a “general store” for anything festival-goers may need.
Cory Heft, 41, loved tie-dye and the Grateful Dead, as well as creating and collecting hat pins that he sold at festivals across the state. Heft died Tues., Feb. 22, 2022, from injuries suffered in a Feb. 16 home invasion in South Annville Township. He is survived by a 14-year-old daughter.
It wasn’t until after Heft’s death that his family realized just how many people knew and loved him. Heft made hundreds of friends through concerts, festivals or other trips, as well as through Facebook, where he was the administrator of several hat pin groups. The walls of his house are covered in work he bought from up-and-coming artists.
The Heft family wants to have a celebration of life ceremony when the weather is warmer so more people can attend and they can gather outside. The Hefts also loved to kayak or take their pontoon boat onto the water during warmer weather, Cloe said. The Hefts listened to the same Sublime CD over and over, every time they hopped in their truck for the next trip.
Heft had many animals coming in and out of his home. He never intended to pick up another pet, but when he came across a dog in need, he couldn’t resist bringing it home. At the time of his death, Heft had three dogs, a cat and some fish who live in a tank in Cloe’s bedroom.
