EAST PALESTINE LATEST: The Biden administration said today that it is deploying a team of Health and Human Services and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention officials to East Palestine to conduct new “public health testing and assessments” in response to a request for federal aid from Gov. Mike DeWine.
"Despite the severity of the wreckage, chemical release, and the disruption to the lives of local residents, we have just been informed that Ohio apparently does not meet the eligibility for FEMA assistance at this time," said the group, led by GOP Rep. Bill Johnson."We respectfully request that you provide a detailed response as to why the residents of this community do not qualify for assistance from your agency."– GOP Sen. J.D.
"This is disgusting,” he added. “And the fact that we have not cleaned up the train crash, the fact that these chemicals are still seeping into the ground is an insult to the people who live in East Palestine." … And Sen. Sherrod Brown said yesterday that he and Johnson are looking into getting the administration to list hazardous materials listed on the side of trains to boost transparency, an effort that he acknowledged might require a change in federal law.
