The 17th annual event will be headquartered at West Village, where Violet Crown Cinema has taken over the former Magnolia Theater.
James Faust, DIFF artistic director, said festivalgoers will appreciate the new Violet Crown theater.
“It’s a perfect showcase for over a week packed with inclusive, immersive, accessible, educational and entertaining film experiences,” Wilbins said. “It’s an honor to also return to a tradition of hosting DIFF in the heart of Uptown, bringing a range of programming for everyone, especially those seeking the thrill of the premiere, the chance to meet filmmakers, and to celebrate the joy that is modern cinema,” Banowsky said in a release.
