After news broke Tuesday of the Chicago Blackhawks coming to an agreement to trade Patrick Kane to the New York Rangers,
reported that the Stars were one of multiple teams who attempted to pursue the veteran winger. However, Kane “pushed behind the scenes” to go to the Rangers.. But the Stars could still use some more firepower on offense. The Stars’ top line is lethal, one of the best in the league. And Jamie Benn and Wyatt Johnston have found chemistry on the third line. But,. There is potential for Dadonov to fill in, but a player of Kane’s caliber could have made an immediate difference to the top six in Dallas.
Chicago reportedly agreed to send Kane, 34, to New York in exchange for two draft picks — a conditional 2023 second-round pick, as well as a 2023 fourth-round pick. The Blackhawks will also continue to pay a portion of Kane’s $10.5 million salary. The 2023 second round pick will become either a 2024 or 2025 first-rounder if the Rangers make the Eastern Conference Finals.The trade deadline is 2:00 p.m. on Friday for all teams still in the market this week.
