EXCLUSIVE: Dame Laura Kenny says she's ‘scared’ to fall pregnant following miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy: ‘I can't go through it again'
Dame Laura Kenny has admitted she is scared to try for another baby after suffering the trauma of two baby losses within three months.
Speaking exclusively to OK!, Laura said: “I’m not going to sit here and pretend I’m not scared to go through it again – because I am. Laura, who along with Jason, 34, led a peloton of 300 cyclists down The Mall for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee pageant, said her career was also a factor deterring her from trying again. She fears is she was to fall pregnant now, her chances of competing in the 2024 Summer Olympics would be slim.
An ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilised egg implants itself outside the womb, usually in one of the fallopian tubes. Laura was rushed into A&E with a life-threatening situation where the fertilised egg was already rupturing her left fallopian tube. Remarkably, Laura has bounced back from her grief to make the British team that won silver in the women's pursuit at the Nations Cup in Glasgow in April. She is due to compete in the Commonwealth Games next month.
