The long-held practice of changing clocks twice a year could finally come to an end.
Hate losing an hour of sleep each year? Still have analog clocks hanging around that can be a pain moving an hour ahead in the spring and an hour behind in the fall? Or what about those early sunsets in the dead of winter?
The measure was sponsored by U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla. U.S. Sen. Cory Booker added his name as co-sponsor a day before the vote.on the issue last week, welcomed the Senate action. “It’s clear to me that it is time to stop changing our clocks twice a year. The hearing showed there is widespread agreement on coming up with a permanent solution and I’m hopeful that we can end the silliness of the current system soon.”
“The later light provided by daylight saving time is fairly popular,” said Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute. “Changing back and forth to it each year is not.”
