Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies changed superhero adaptations forever, and now DC has the chance to move beyond The Dark Knight’s legacy.
DC Universe’s The Brave and the Bold can finally move Batman movies from Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. Following the confirmation that Robert Pattinson’s Batman would not be part of James Gunn’s new DC Universe, a new Batman movie was announced with no ties to Matt Reeves’ The Batman. The Brave and the Bold’s cast and director have yet to be announced, with the film taking place in the DC Universe’s Chapter 1: Gods & Monsters.
James Gunn has confirmed that The Brave and the Bold will feature the “extended Bat-Family,” suggesting that not only the Robins but also other Batman legacy heroes like Batgirl, Batwoman, Batwing, and the Signal might be incorporated into the new DC Universe. What also separates DC’s new Batman movie from the Dark Knight trilogy is how the former will exist in a larger DC Universe, meaning that this new Batman will get to interact with multiple superheroes and villains.
