Man found dead in burned apartment in Valley Glen following break-in, shots fired
Los Angeles Police said two brothers were at home in the apartment when a suspect or suspects broke in. Police believe the victim was shot before the fire was set. Police said the victim may have been targeted.
Los Angeles firefighters responded at 1 a.m. and extinguished the fire within one apartment on the first floor of 24-unit two-story building located at 138333 W. Oxnard St. Firefighters found the remains of one person in the burned apartment. LAFD said the victim was an adult male. Two dogs were also found dead inside the apartment. The victim's cause of death was not determined.
An LAPD Homicide detective said a suspect was seen at the apartment at the time of the fire. The suspect is believed to have broken in and fired shots at the scene before running away.
