The most serious type of heart attack, a STEMI, is most likely to occur on a Monday, new research suggests.
Mondays seem to be bad for your heart, according to new research from the British Heart Foundation.
There’s some evidence that the increase in STEMI heart attacks is related to stress hormones, according to experts. A STEMI, or ST-elevation myocardial infarction, occurs when one of the arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle is blocked,Because of that blockage, the heart muscle begins to die, and the weakened heart can’t pump blood to the rest of the body.
“We know that heart attacks are more likely to happen in winter and in the early hours of the morning,” Laffan said.
