Xander Irvine, three, died in Edinburgh in 2020 but Edith Duncan, 91, died before she could stand trial.
The tragic death of a toddler who was killed when he was struck by a car is to be probed by a sheriff. Xander Irvine, three, suffered fatal injuries when he was hit by a vehicle that mounted the pavement in Edinburgh.
Prosecutors have ruled Xander's death occurred in 'circumstances giving rise to serious public concern' and a fatal accident inquiry will now take place at Edinburgh Sheriff Court. A virtual preliminary hearing has been set for April 11. "Xander was a real chatterbox who just loved books, playing with all sorts of vehicles and his Lego. He really enjoyed life and he enriched the lives of everyone he met."
Earlier this year, his dad Paul Irvine, called for dogs to be banned in graveyards after teddies placed on his son's grave would go missing.
