Defense attorneys for the suspect charged in the 2017 Delphi murders have filed a motion to withdraw from the case.
Richard Allen was scheduled to go before a judge for a status hearing Thursday afternoon in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Allen has been charged with killing Abigail Williams and Liberty German in 2017 on a trail in Delphi, Indiana.
Judge Fran Gull of Allen County entered the courtroom after a delay and announced the attorneys for Allen are withdrawing from the case. Allen's defense attorney, Andrew Baldwin, has filed a motion to withdraw himself as counsel on the case, according to the judge. Allen's other defense attorney is expected to file a similar motion.
Since Allen has no representation, Allen's trial date, initially set for January, will be pushed to a later date, the judge said.Copyright © 2023 WLS-TV. All Rights Reserved.
