The initial completion date of July 2022 was not met and a number of revised anticipated timetables for concluding the building work could not be achieved.
As part of early learning and childcare expansion plans in North Lanarkshire , the council is establishing nine new nurseries including at the site of the former community centre in Wishaw hill on Main Street.

At committee, councillors were informed that the current contractor is aiming to arrange for regular weekend work to make progress towards the July target and that there is very good progress with the on-site activity.Ten applications have so far been submitted for three to five-year-olds to attend the nursery and the council are also looking to place ten eligible two-year-olds at the setting from August.
“The lengthy delays to the project were a serious concern and I have continually highlighted the importance of establishing the new nursery in Wishawhill so that local families can access a top-class early years centre on their doorstep.
