A new Belfast Bike station will be coming to East Belfast after a proposal received cross party support
.
It received unanimous support from Green Party, Alliance, DUP, SDLP and UUP reps from the area and it is hoped that it will further encourage use of the greenway and active travel in the area.Green Party Lisnasharragh councillor Brian Smyth said that he was delighted the proposal had been approved and hoped that further stations could be installed in the Cregagh Road and Ravenhill Road areas.
"I set out that it was an area of high footfall linked to nearby local businesses, and in the current economic climate, it's vital to support local jobs. There is evidence from London, that shows people who don't drive and use neighbourhood shops spend 40% more each month.
