Fliers on a Delta flight that diverted to Salt Lake City were put on a new aircraft after its emergency slide was deployed by accident, officials said.
They said Delta flight 520, which was operating from New York City to Los Angeles, was diverted to Salt Lake City on Saturday because of a maintenance issue.
While on the ground, that same aircraft's slide was deployed by accident, airline officials said. They said 168 customers were on that flight."In an effort to get our customers to their final destination as quickly and safely as possible, they were re-accommodated on a new aircraft," a Delta spokesperson stated. "We apologize for the delay to their travel plans. Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and people.
They said that "out of an abundance of caution, one crew member was taken to the hospital for evaluation but has since been discharged."
