“I want to see candidates that are going to focus on core issues that are important to the citizens of this state — education, health care, property tax reform, all these things,” said Cook, a former chairman of the powerful House State Affairs Committee. Meanwhile, Patrick has also been promoting his across-the-aisle support — though not necessarily in the same fashion. In a Wednesday email to supporters, Patrick touted a recent trip to the traditionally blue Rio Grande Valley, “where Hispanics are changing parties at a historic pace!”
