A depraved foster couple who subjected vulnerable children to sickening abuse over almost two decades have avoided jail.
But the pair walked free from court on Wednesday with community-based sentences after a sheriff accused them of spouting a pack of lies to cover up their vile crimes - telling the couple “the truth is now out”. Sandra Harper repeatedly struck one boy on the head and body from the age of five, repeatedly rubbing his face in urine-soaked bedding and pushing him, causing him to hit his head on a wardrobe.
Andrew Harper was convicted of assaulting the same child by grabbing her by the clothing and shouting at her over a period of two years. At Aberdeen Sheriff Court, Sandra Harper was sentenced to 300 hours of unpaid work to be completed within two years and a two-year supervision order. Top news stories today Lawyers for both argued they should be spared prison due to their age and the fact they are no longer being able to foster children.
