Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Wednesday night that as president, he would use the Department of Justice to bring civil rights cases against "left-wing Soros-funded prosecutors" to stop rising urban crime in the nation.

DeSantis said the rising crime rates in America's big cities is one of the biggest indicators that the country is in decline. He touted his state's record decrease in crime and being on the side of law enforcement as a blueprint for the country to follow suit. DeSantis suspended Tampa Bay area prosecutor Andrew Warren in 2022 for saying he would not bring charges against those violating the state's 15-week abortion ban, and then suspended Orlando's Democrat prosecutor Monique Worrell in August after a man with eight felonies and 11 misdemeanors as a juvenile went on a shooting spree that killed three people, including a 9-year-old girl and a local television journalist, NBC News reported.
