DHL Supply Chain could lay off at least 80 employees in Sugar Land, Missouri City

Depending on the outcome of negotiations, as many as 152 employees could be laid off.A division of multinational logistics companyplans to lay off at least 80 Houston-area employees, according to a Thursday statement from the company.
DHL Supply Chain could let go as many as 123 employees in Missouri City and 29 employees across two Sugar Land locations on June 30, according to a May 1 notice to the Texas Workforce Commission. The employees are not represented by a union, according to the notice. The 80 layoffs stem from the termination of a contract with a customer, which DHL declined to name, that uses the three warehouses. More employees could be laid off depending on the outcome of ongoing negotiations.
“A DHL Supply Chain customer made the decision to terminate its contract with DHL and move the business to a new logistics provider," a company spokesperson said in a statement."As such, 80 warehouse associates will be affected from our Missouri City and Sugar Land facilities. It is important to note that since this WARN notice has been issued, we are in active dialog with our customer which may impact the outcome of our business.
DHL Supply Chain, a contract logistics provider, is a division of Germany-based Deutsche Post DHL Group. Revenue in the division increased by 7 percent in the first quarter of 2023, and all regions saw record revenue growth due to new business, contract renewals and e-commerce,
