Prosecutors said that while Kyle Whitmore, 39, of Crockett, was serving as a track coach and faculty member at DVC, he was also engaged in sex crimes.
MARTINEZ — Prosecutors in Contra Costa County have charged a Diablo Valley College faculty member and athletics coach with nine felonies in relation to human trafficking and other sex-related crimes, authorities said.
Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested 39-year-old Kyle Whitmore, of Crockett, on Sept. 7, according to a statement from Contra Costa District Attorney spokesperson Ted Asregadoo. He was being held without bail Tuesday morning at the Martinez Detention Facility, according to jail records. According to court documents, prosecutors have charged Whitmore with two counts of human trafficking, two counts of pandering, one count of pimping and four counts of forcible sexual penetration with a foreign object.
A profile no longer posted on the DVC web site once listed Whitmore as the school’s head track and field coach. He still was listed on the school’s site Tuesday morning as aDVC officials did not immediately return messages seeking comment. An email to Whitmore’s faculty email was not answered immediately.
