Disney corporate President Karey Burke told company staff that Generation Z is “30-40% queerer” than previous generations, according to video of a company video call.

Disney announced last week that it will work to repeal Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' new Parental Rights in Education law because the company is dedicated to standing up for the rights and safety of the LGBTQ+ community.

DeSantis signed the bill into law last week. Critics have depicted the legislation as hurtful to LGBTQ inclusiveness and dubbed it the "Don't Say Gay" bill. Walt Disney Television Entertainment President Karey Burke addressed the press at the 2019 TCA Winter Press Tour at The Langham Huntington, in Pasadena, Calif.

"Florida’s HB 1557, also known as the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill, should never have passed and should never have been signed into law," the Disney statement said. "Our goal as a company is for this law to be repealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts, and we remain committed to supporting the national and state organizations working to achieve that."itself mentions the word "gay.

The bill also requires procedures for schools to discuss matters of "mental, emotional or physical health or well-being" with parents.
