District 4 supervisor candidates Monica Montgomery Steppe and Amy Reichert faced questions Wednesday night from East County residents on some of their region’s most pressing issues — from housing development to health care to long-awaited upgrades to a nightmarish freeway interchange — at a public forum Wednesday. The hour-long forum at Cuyamaca College was one of the candidates' last opportunities to address their would-be constituents head to head ahead of the Nov.
Montgomery Steppe wants to continue models developed during the pandemic to reduce barriers for the county’s most vulnerable populations, in part by funding community clinics such as the new Southeastern Live Well Center. She also wants to change reimbursement structure for hospitals providing mental health services.
