'Oh no, not another one' 😲
Plans to convert a former travel agent into a takeaway have been refused - after leaving a councillor 'horrified'.
The Darwen East Liberal Democrat said: “Oh no. Not another one. We have got enough takeaways in the town – in fact too many.” Documents submitted with the proposal said the conversion of the former Althams branch would enhance the town centre conservation area ‘by bringing a disused building back into use’.Now Blackburn with Darwen Council planners have refused the application.
A report by officer Martin Kenny said: “Number16 Market Street is a late 20th century, two-storey building, constructed of yellow and brown brick and has a canopy running the length of the frontage between ground and first floor level.
