Thirteenth Doctor Jodie Whittaker is eager to return to Doctor Who. Jodie Whittaker's tenure as the Thirteenth Doctor will come to an end in The Power of the Doctor, a 90-minute Centenary Special expected to be a homage to the show's 59-year history. This will see Whittaker's Doctor team up with returning companions from the classic Doctor Who series, Sophie Aldred's Ace and Janet Fielding's Tegan Jovanka.
The Power of the Doctor will see a dark prophecy from the avatar of Time itself fulfilled. She warned the Doctor to fear the forces that would unite against her, and their Master - a heavy hint that Sacha Dhawan's Master would be responsible for the end of the Thirteenth Doctor era. Trailers have confirmed this is the case, with shots of the Master threatening to "erase" the Doctor from history.
When Could Jodie Whittaker's Doctor Return? Whittaker clearly isn't expecting to come back as part of Doctor Who's 60th anniversary celebrations next year, which instead appear to focus on the mysterious return of David Tennant's Doctor and his companion Donna Noble . Although this is a disappointment, it makes sense; her departure will still be too fresh, and Davies will want to focus on establishing his new era rather than paying homage to Whittaker's.
As exciting as the prospect of a multi-Doctor story may be, though, it's also possible Whittaker will reprise her role in other mediums. Doctor Who has a proud history of exploiting the potential of transmedia, with major actors reprising their roles in audio-dramas for Big Finish.
