There is no clinical evidence that children without symptoms should stay away from classes, medics say, as nine deaths are recorded across the UK. 🔴 AlannahFrancis1 has the story.
He said: “Missing school is bad for lots of reasons and certainly missing school without any reason to do so, just on the fear of catching something, isn’t something that there’s any clinical evidence for at the moment whatsoever.”
Dr Daniels, who also handles referrals from the NHS 111 service, said: “Last week, anecdotally, about a third of my calls, were people concerned with Group A strep, and I prescribed antibiotics for one them. There was only one person who I felt met criteria.” Health professionals are urging caution over providing antibiotics to well children, raising concerns over anti-microbial resistance, supply issues and potential side effects.
