Others point to statistics that show Hispanic people are more likely than non-Hispanic whites to work in construction, housekeeping, grocery stores, and other essential services that put them at a higher risk of getting the virus.

For example, CDC data shows 13.6% of Hispanics 20 and older have been diagnosed with diabetes, compared with 8.5% of non-Hispanic white adults. In addition, Hispanic adults who have been diagnosed with diabetes are less likely than non-Hispanic white or Black adults to have it controlled properly.
