LOS ANGELES — Searching for depth throughout their infield, the Dodgers reportedly reached a deal to reacquire utilityman Kiké Hernandez from the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday, according to multiple outlets.Hernandez, 31, can provide additional help to the NL West-leading Dodgers at second base, shortstop and center field.
Hernandez has spent most of this season as Boston’s primary shortstop, but with Trevor Story set to return soon from ulnar collateral ligament surgery in his throwing arm, Hernandez became expendable. Story started a rehab assignment last week and joined Boston’s Triple-A team on Tuesday.
