Both pets are in the care of Lost and Found Pets North Down
It is feared two dogs may have been dumped from a car in Co Down during heavy downpours on the night March 14.
The second of the pair of dogs was missing for some time and a search party later discovered him in a muddy ditch, unable to get to safety. “We managed to get the female Shih Tzu to safety thanks to a member of the public, and we started searching for the second dog. And we were so lucky to find him within an hour or so.
"We just dread to think what would have happened if he hadn’t been found down there. The water was deep and if he had become exhausted, he would probably have collapsed and drowned. he was freezing cold to the touch when he was rescued out of there. “Sadly at this stage, we believe both dogs were dumped out on Thursday night in the pouring rain and although we are hoping we're wrong, we have very good reason to believe these dogs were abandoned to their fate.”
