Police are unable to rehome prohibited breeds
Police confiscated a dog and put it down after finding it was a banned breed.
After a video related to the seizure was shared online, Three Rivers Police released a statement confirming the pet had been taken from its owner in the area. Hertfordshire Constabulary have confirmed the dog, believed to be a pit bull, was"humanely put to sleep" as they are unable to rehome prohibited breeds.
A spokesperson said: “When we seize a dog that is suspected to be of a prohibited breed, a number of extensive checks and assessments are conducted.
