The Point Pleasant store discriminated against the Brick resident and fired him over his disabilities, the lawsuit alleges.
An Ocean County man with a learning disability and health issues has filed suit against the Dollar General Corporation, claiming he was fired from the Point Pleasant store for being “too slow” at his job as a stocking clerk.
Sica said he wrote on his job application that he receives Social Security benefits due to his disabilities, could work limited hours each week and was unable to work shifts that required him to drive at night because of his vision problems. Sica told the supervisor “he was doing the best he could” and that he always completed his tasks, according to the lawsuit.
Dollar General management failed to respond to his complaints and instead fired Sica on Dec. 11, 2021, the suit alleges.
