As of 2019, the Old Farmer's Almanac says it uses a secret formula to predict the weather, a secret formula originally first created back in 1792. Here's how the book's own site explains the history: It's allegedly been updated since then, but there's no telling how scientific it actually is without actually seeing it. Apparently it at least takes the sun's activity into account.
