“I don’t think we didn’t believe [in each other],” Mitchell, now a member of the Cavaliers after getting traded to Cleveland on Sept. 1,on Wednesday. “I said at the end of the season, don’t trade [Gobert]. Let’s figure this out, let’s do. And that didn’t happen. For him to say that after six months around the team, I disagree. But you know, at the end of the day, that’s his decision.”
Utah shipped Gobert, a three-time All-Star and three-time Defensive Player of the Year, to the Timberwolves for a bounty of draft picks in a blockbuster deal on July 1, a day after they traded Royce O’Neale to the Nets.Still, Mitchell seems happy to have landed in Cleveland, at least outwardly.
