Download Festival is being held at Donington Park this weekend
Police have issued a reminder to everyone planning to wear a smartwatch at Download Festival this weekend. The warning comes after 700 extra 999 calls were made at the event last year.
Some of the world's biggest rock and metal acts are set to take to the stage at Donington Park this weekend, with Queens of the Stone Age, Fall Out Boy and Avenged Sevenfold the three headliners. Gates for the festival opened on June 12, with the main music events taking place over the weekend of June 14-16.
The festival has a reputation for attracting a passionate audience of heavy music lovers, with mosh pits a regular site over the weekend. For those likely to be heading in to the pits over the next few days, police have issued a warning. Speaking on X , Leicestershire Police said: "Download starts this weekend. Last year, wearable tech issues assumed people in mosh pits had been in a collision, causing 700 extra 999 calls, taking our handlers away from emergency calls.75,000 people are expected to descend on Donington Park, with the weather forecast predicting a soggy and chilly weekend.
