A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms had been issued by the Met Office
This is the dramatic moment a huge bolt of lightning appeared over the Manchester city centre skyline - as the region was battered by a huge tropical storm.
That didn't stop thousands of Manchester City fans turning out to watch the treble-winning team parade through the streets of the city centre. Bolts of lightning were also spotted over the Trafford Centre, which footage appearing to show rain pouring through the ceiling of a CostCo in Trafford Park.
