Glasgow driver tailed ambulance on 999 call for more than three miles
Ravi Lekh, 46, tailed medics from Glasgow Royal Infirmary to the city's Battlefield on November 30 2021.He also drove on the wrong side of the road in order to keep up with the vehicle.Lekh pleaded guilty on Friday at Glasgow Sheriff Court to careless driving.The ambulance flashed its blue lights and sounded its siren at the beginning of the journey.
"Lekh again followed the ambulance through a red light, manoeuvring for a short time on the opposing carriageway."His manner of driving concerned a witness who contacted the ambulance control room to inform the police. Lekh continued to follow the ambulance on Cathcart Road before exceeding the speed limit on Battlefield Road.Miss Campbell stated that the witnesses on board did not know why Lekh had been following them.After being charged, Lekh stated:"I think my partner said why I did that - because I didn't feel well."He said:"Mr Lekh ultimately did go to hospital that day and what he was told is that he had an anxiety attack.
